Instrumental Music

YLMS is an award winning middle school instrumental music program that encompasses concert band, marching band, string orchestra, chamber orchestra, jazz band, and percussion ensemble. YLMS sends students to every high school in the PYLUSD.

     Kristin Cooley was born in Texas, grew up in Boise, Idaho, attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman for Music Education, and is happy to be at Yorba Linda Middle School.
     She has taught three years of elementary music, five years of middle school music at Talbert Middle School - FVSD, and six years of high school band and orchestra at Edison High School - HBUHSD, and La Quinta High School - GGUSD. While she enjoyed her time in high school and had success with both programs, her passion lies in teaching middle school band and orchestra and she is excited to be continuing her career in that field.
     She is a percussionist and pianist, but can play at least five notes on any instrument you give her. She has been married to her husband, Jeremy, a high school theater and choir director, since 2016. They have two cats, Bernie and Juniper.
     On weeknights you'll find her playing D&D, reading books or attending musicals, and on the weekend she'll probably be at Disneyland.
